Exciting Updates from Column of Hope
We have three pieces of great news to share with you!
- Mark your calendar for our 17th Annual Working Toward a Day Without Pain Gala, Lighting the Way to a Cure, on 10/26/19
- Our featured speaker is Dr. Richard Ellenbogen from Seattle Children’s Hospital. He is renowned for, among other things, as being the former co‐chair of the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Medicine Committee, the past president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and for his CM/SM expertise. Barbara and I have worked with him in the past and know he is an engaging speaker.
- Locally, he is known of as the mentor for Dr. Renée Reynolds of UB Neurosurgeons.
- We will have a CME program at 8 AM the morning of the gala for local and regional physician education.
- We are now accepting donations for the raffle, silent auction and live auction. Please contact Barbara at bkane834@gmail.com

- Column of Hope is sponsoring a major International Medical Conference which will draw Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome experts from 20 countries on 5 continents here to Buffalo at the end of this month. We hope to begin the process of a worldwide collaborative effort to improve outcomes for CM and SM patients including those with EDS! Please see the provisional program
- Physicians or scientist interested in attending this 24 hour CME conference can still register.
- Four of the experts have agreed to stay on and have a free Patient/Caregiver Information Session on 6/29/19 - Feel free to pass this on to any CM/SM or EDS patients you know.
- In the last three months we have published two important new papers exploring the mechanism of syrinx formation, and one exploring the Chiari headache. This brings us to 32 research articles in peer reviewed publications!
